Beach Wedding Flowers – Here Comes The Tide

The first official beach wedding in England and Wales took place on Friday 27th April on Bournemouth Beach. Kate Smith and Frazer Seed became the first couple to marry at the stunning beach venue, courtesy of ‘Beach Weddings Bournemouth’.

Being the first one of its kind the event of course attracted substantial media attention with the ceremony itself being transmitted live to millions on ITV’s early morning ‘Daybreak’ breakfast TV show.

Here at eFlorist we are proud to disclose that the flowers for the event were in fact designed and created by one of our florists; Emma Newson-Smith of ‘Arcade Flowers’ in Ringwood, who is in fact the official “recommended” florist for ‘Beach Weddings Bournemouth’.

2 weeks before the big day, Emma met Melanie Kiani of ‘Beach Weddings Bournemouth’ to discuss the flower choice and arrangements. There was, as you would expect, a particular theme to follow but Emma also had to take in to consideration the colour of the bridesmaid’s dresses – watermelon pink (something that was only disclosed a few days before the wedding itself).

Ice cream colours with a fresh beach feel were the order of the day and set the style for all the flower arrangements. The bride’s bouquet was a gorgeous collection of cream coloured Stocks, Lisianthus, spray Roses and Freesias. The button holes were made up of Roses and Eucalyptus with the groom also having extra cream spray Rose buds. Pink Freesias, Astilbe and Bouvardia added a touch of colour to the arrangements throughout the rest of the marquee.

Emma and her team had a day to prepare the flowers, setting everything up at the beach hut venue the night before the wedding in time for the dress rehearsal.

The day itself was a huge success despite the somewhat challenging weather conditions; Kate and Frazer were thrilled with their day and exclaimed that everything was just “perfect”.

Everything including the flowers was left in situ over the weekend as the beach hut was opened up to the public to admire and for further bookings to be taken.

We would like to wish Kate and Frazer the very best as they start their life together as Mr and Mrs Seed. Our personal congratulations also go to Emma of Arcade Flowers for a doing such a fantastic job.

Behind the scenes at an eFlorist photo shoot

We thought it was time to let you in behind the scenes once again for another sneaky peak at an eFlorist product photo shoot. Without giving too much away we can now reveal just how a remote barn somewhere in rural Hampshire is brought to life – where the air quite literally becomes full of wonderful fragrances.

For each eFlorist product launch a unique set is designed and built by the eFlorist NPD (New Product Development) Team.  Working tirelessly around the clock for weeks at a time the team transform the blank canvas of the barn in to a stunning neutral product backdrop, from which the colours, textures and glorious floral forms of our bouquets and arrangements can be showcased.

Time is of the essence on a photo shoot so attention to detail really is paramount. The set needs to work effectively from a number of different angles in order that each product background looks its absolute best, without falling in to the trap of looking too much like the last or indeed steals the limelight from the product itself.

There needs to be a sufficient assortment of props available to set the scene or to simply add an extra lifestyle dimension to individual shots. The flower stems, vases, baskets, wrapping, ribbons, bears, chocolates and balloons need to be on hand for the duration of the shoot, with the flowers being fresh at all times and of course in bloom. These are all things that simply have to happen before even one photograph can be taken.

The design of each bouquet and flower arrangement is perfected by one of our professional florists in attendance. Each one is then individually and very carefully transported to the set where every angle of every stem and bloom is scruitinised, ensuring that the arrangement looks the best it possibly can in readiness for its close up. Even once the florist is happy the photographer also casts his own critical eye over the display. Looking down the camera lens can reveal things that you wouldn’t ordinarily see. Tweaked and turned, perfection is ultimately achieved.

The first camera click sounds the start of the next process. Each product in its various colour ways and sizes, with and without accessories needs to be painstakingly recorded by the florist, photographer and by the production assistant. Every single detail of each individual shot must be carefully itemised ensuring that the final shot matches exactly the stem selection, price, wrapping and references the correct product code at the right size in the appropriate range. Absolutely nothing can be second guessed or left to chance.

I’m sure you can appreciate, just by revealing the tip of the iceberg, the lengths the eFlorist NPD Team go to and the time it takes to shoot an entire product range. The whole process really must run like a super slick military operation in order to stay within the budget, meet the deadline and to of course, ultimately ensure that our products continue to appeal to our target market – you and your customers.

Single Red Rose for St. George’s Day

April 23rd is St George’s Day, commemorating the Saint’s death in AD303. St George is of course the patron saint of England, who as legend would have it, slayed a dragon to save a young maiden.

Traditionally a single red rose is adorned on the lapel to mark the day – the red rose being the national flower of England since the Wars of the Roses (1455 – 1485).

Red Rose for St. George's DayRed Rose for St Georges DayAnother tradition is to fly the St George’s flag, England’s national flag – the design being based on St George’s red cross set against a white background.

Of course single red roses are usually associated with Valentine’s Day flowers or more simply as a romantic flower in its own right.

Mother’s Day Flower Delivery – A Team Effort

The eFlorist team pull together to ensure customer satisfaction on
Mother’s Day 2012

When there were a number of last minute Mother’s Day flower orders on Mother’s Day itself, the eFlorist GM rolled up her sleeves and made bouquets to ensure that Mums were not left disappointed on the day. The bouquets were then personally delivered by members of staff from eFlorist HQ.

Lorraine Key, eFlorist GM, herself a fully qualified ex-florist, said:
“We’ve had a really successful Mother’s Day and appreciate all the hard work that our florists have put in behind the scenes to ensure that Mothers and Grandmothers across the country have not been disappointed and that the good wishes from their families have been conveyed via beautiful, florist-made, personally delivered bouquets and floral arrangements.”

Bouquet of the Month for March – Aquamarine

March is here already which means it’s time to reveal our bouquet of the month.

Inspired by the birthstone Aquamarine, our expert florists have cleverly created an attractive aquapack bouquet of green Anthuriums, white Roses and scented Freesias.

Designed to be easily recreated by our local florists, the birthstone bouquet makes an ideal flower gift for really any flower sending event or occasion.

This particular birthstone bouquet is an aquapack, which means that it comes with its own little bag of water, so you don’t have to worry about finding a vase and trying to arrange the flowers when you’ve undone the wrapping. It’s designed to be displayed straight from the florist to your home so that you really do get the benefit of a professional flower arrangement that is simply bound to impress. The flowers have also been carefully chosen to ensure that this particular arrangement doesn’t just look great but smells divine too.

Available in regular, medium or large for same day flower delivery up and down the country, make sure you order your Aquamarine aquapack bouquet before 3pm Mon-Sat.
