Sending Valentine’s Day Flowers

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and if you’re asking yourself: “What can I get this year to make the day really special?”, then we have some ideas that you really might like.

Although it might seem that sending flowers is all a bit of a cliché, these days when social media is taking a firm hold on the world and the way we interact with each other, sending flowers is actually becoming rarer and rarer. Texting, facebooking and even tweeting your affections is very much the norm, which is why we believe if you want to stand out from the crowd and go for WOW then sending your Valentine flowers is actually going to win you big points.

Our Valentine’s Day flower bouquets have been designed by experts, will be individually created and then hand delivered by a local florist who will even hand write your message on a gift card ensuring your gift has that oh so important personal touch that is sure to speak volumes.

So, I guess the big question is: “What kind of flowers do I send?” Well, traditionally Valentine’s Day is all about red roses. A single red rose for a single word “love”. 3 red roses for “I love you” and of course a dozen red roses representing a complete cycle (12 signs of the zodiac, 12 months of the year, 12 hours on a clock face) and therefore “complete love”.

For those who want to break away from tradition then there are always alternatives. We have an incredible range of beautiful hot red, passionate pink and purple bouquets that are simply bound to melt hearts.

But, if you’re looking for something a little extra, then check out our Valentine Flower Gift Sets. An “I love you” balloon, cute brown teddy bear and a box of delicious milk chocolates can complete your flower gift and will certainly stand out, especially if you are sending flowers to her place of work.

Of course if money is no object, then you might be interested in our luxurious red rose bouquets: 2 dozen red roses, or go for full on WOW with 50 red roses, each of these fantastic statement bouquets are completed with a generous sprinkling of Diamante.

Valentine’s Day Flowers and Gift Sets

We have just launched our 2012 Valentine’s Day flower collection online, which includes classics such as a single red rose and bouquets of a dozen red roses but we’ve also brought back some of our most popular arrangements from last year too. The ‘Hearts and Flowers’ 3 red rose and sisal love heart collar vase arrangement was huge in 2011 and of course we’ve included in the range our much favoured ‘Rose & Lily Classic’ pink aquapack bouquet.

Valentine’s Day is not just about red roses though so we have a great selection of less traditional but equally beautiful red and pink bouquets. ‘Pure Passion’ for example is a rich and passionate bouquet of deep reds, purples and pinks.

We’ve also included for the first time a selection of Valentine flower gift sets. Giving some of the more traditional Valentine flower arrangements a bit of a twist, we’ve created a fantastic selection of romantic floral gifts that are sure to make an impact this Valentine’s Day.

But if you’re going for full on WOW this year, then we have just the bouquet for you. ‘Ultimate Love’ is a fantastically generous aquapack bouquet of 50 absolutely stunning red roses, sparkling with Diamante.

Check out our complete Valentine’s Day flower range and our new Valentine’s Day flower gift sets too.

Chinese New Year – Firecracker Bouquet

Chinese New Year 2012 – Year of the Dragon

The 23rd January sees the start of the Chinese New Year, which, legend has it, should be celebrated predominately using the colour red to drive away bad luck.

In preparation for the New Year homes are given a thorough cleaning to wash away any bad luck from the year before and to invite good luck in. Buying new things for the home also symbolises a fresh start and red decorations are thought to bring good fortune, happiness, wealth and longevity to the household.

If you are celebrating the New Year in or if you know someone who is, an ideal gift to give or to decorate the home and welcome in good luck for the year ahead would be a bright red bouquet of flowers. Our Firecracker bouquet is ideal. Click here to order yours today.

Children In Need – Christmas table arrangement

Not all employees at eFlorist HQ are florists, some of us (me included) are new to the art. So when 7 places were up for auction for employees to take part in an in-house floristry school (in aid of the BBC’s Children In Need appeal), we jumped at the chance of having a go.

Sarah Clerke, eFlorist’s IT Project Manager and former professional florist, set up the day school to demonstrate how to make a Christmas flower table arrangement.

Top Tip: Make sure you keep the foam topped up with water so it doesn’t dry out. The foliage will most likely last longer than the flowers so simply remove any that are wilting and replace with fresh flowers.

eFlorist Christmas Song

At eFlorist we love our jobs, believe in what we do and are proud of the products and service we provide to the public. So much so in fact that some of our employees felt compelled to write, produce and create a Christmas song, under their own steam and in their own time.

We believe that flowers have the power to change people’s lives.

Please take a moment to hear our song.

Christmas Flowers – gifts and decorations

Have you been invited to a Christmas party or for dinner on the day itself this year? Not sure what to take the host? Instead of the usual bottle of wine or box of chocolates, how about taking a bouquet of flowers in appreciation for all their hard work and planning, or a floral centre piece such as a candle arrangement for the table?

Giving flowers at Christmas not only makes a wonderfully unexpected and thoughtful Christmas present that the host will adore but they can also make a fantastic focal point that will last well in to the New Year.

Ordering flowers online makes the whole process really convienient too. Simply choose to have the flowers delivered to the party in advance or to your home so you can take them to the party yourself (which will look like you’ve taken the time and effort to go to a florist and pick the flower arrangement).

Of course if you are the host and have all the bases covered; food, drinks, decorations and party games, don’t forget the Christmas table decoration too. A simple floral arrangement can be the perfect finishing touch, a colourful addition and great conversation piece.

Topaz – December bouquet of the month

This month’s bouquet of the month is inspired by the birthstone Topaz. An aquapack bouquet of fresh green Chrysantheumums, creamy Carnations and rich, purple Lisianthus, Liatris with a dash of hooded Aconitum, make this a gorgeous flower bouquet and simply perfect for the festive season.

So whether you are looking for a Christmas flower bouquet that’s slightly different to the classic Christmas red and white arrangements or if you’re just not sure what to send to someone this month, the Topaz bouquet of the month is ideal for you.

Fresh flowers and health benefits

Did you know that looking at a bouquet of flowers first thing in the morning increases your energy levels throughout the day?

In a study conducted at Harvard University women were sent either fresh flowers or scented candles. Those that received flowers were less anxious, less depressed and more enthusiastic at work. It’s all to do with an inbuilt attraction we have to vegetation – a primeval signal of food and water.

So sending flowers to loved ones as a get well gesture or to mothers of newborns is a wonderful sentiment and makes an ideal gift. Congratulating someone on a job well done or sending a bouquet of flowers as a sympathy tribute does more than just show how much you care. Flowers at work, in reception or even on your desk creates a relaxing ambience not to mention a lovely fragrant focal point and can even be an ice breaker. Sent anonymously they can create further interest and intrigue not just for the recipient but for the whole office too.

So you see, a bouquet of flowers really can do a lot more than just look and smell great. Why not treat yourself to fresh flowers this week and see for yourself.
